Hindolo Bongay is a native of Alexandria, LA where he trained at Vicki’s Dance Studios since the age of eleven. He was the first male member of the Center Stage Competition Team where he traveled and competed in several different dance competitions across the nation. During his competitive dance career, Hindolo was awarded numerous dance titles and was granted the opportunity to join the LA Entertainment Talent Agency. As a senior in high school, Hindolo was the first male dancer to ever audition and make the dance team. He competed with the team at regional and national competitions and was chosen as an All American Dancer with the Universal Dance Association granting him the opportunity to dance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. While still in high school, Hindolo was chosen as head choreographer for the Brame Middle School dance team where he also attended junior high. He coached the team for two years before heading off to college to pursue his studies in Theatre-Performance. With huge aspirations of performing live theatre, Hindolo began his theatre studies at Texas Southern University. As a freshman, he was casted in his first musical theatre production Where Were You In ’65. He also auditioned for the TSU Dance Company and was given several performance opportunities on campus and throughout the community with the company. As a sophomore, Hindolo was nominated to join the executive board for the TSU Dance Company and later was named the first male President of the company. Hindolo was casted for his first leading role in the Texas premiere of the production Marcus; or the Secret of Sweet written by recent Oscar winner Terell Alvin McCraney(Moonlight). The production competed at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and Hindolo was chosen as an Irene Ryan nominee. Overall, the production competed regionally and nationally and was chosen as one of the top five finalists in the nation. Throughout his undergraduate years, Hindolo was casted in many different productions such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Colored Museum, Macbeth, Johnnie B. Goode, Dreamgirls, and Last Days of Judas Iscariot to name a few. As a result of his dedication to his crafts, Hindolo was chosen to travel to Beijing, China to perform for the Meet in Beijing Music Festival. He is currently a member of the Urban Souls Dance Company and serves as dance captain and rehearsal director for the new musical Swing Baby, Swing! Hindolo has just recently been accepted into the Guildford School of Arts in Guildford, U.K. where he will pursue his MFA in Musical Theatre.
