Latrina Rice

La Trina L. Rice is an accomplished actor and director who currently resides in Brooklyn, NY. As a native of Houston, Texas she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Theatre from Sam Houston State University which led to her jumpstarting her career as an English and Theatre teacher for HISD. For more than 3 decades La Trina has performed in professional and community theatre where she is known to engage audiences in her unique character transformations.  She was the 1st inductee into Encore Theatre’s Hall Fame and years later received the Best Actress Award at Encore Theatre’s 20th Anniversary Gala in 2015. In May 2017 La Trina made her Off Broadway debut in the hit, The Girls of Summer, as the no nonsense bar none Esther. La Trina has performed in a ton of other productions for which some of them include. Lucy (Lucifer) in A Gamble of Faith, Marcy in The Dwelling Place, selections from Rent and Aida in The Christopher Cabaret,Mother Shaw in Crowns, Vera in Seven Guitars,  Nurse Evers in Ms. Evers Boys, Cassie in Women In Prison, Emilia in Othello, Rose in Fences,Antigone, Medea in the Greek tragedy Medea Sister Mouth in Shout Hallelujah, Nurse in Romeo and Juliet, Horrinda  in Shazelle,  Sheila inThe Boys Next Door, Lorraine Hansberry in To Be Young Gifted and Black, The Cheese in Three Blind Mice, Ma Lennox in Praise The Lord Raise The Roof, various roles in The Colored Museum, and Charlotte in The Cherry Orchard.  La Trina has directed, Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill, (Asst. Dir) Black NativityIn Jimmy Earl’s Defense, A Raisin in the Sun, A Reunion in Bartersville, Antigone the Greek Tragedy, and For Colored Girls Who Consider Suicide
